As Founder of Windows of Strength, Limited, my wish and passion is not only to provide financial assistance to organ transplant recieipents with their non-medical costs, but also to promote public awareness of the need for organ donors. 

Statistics

Although there have been advances in medical technology and donation, the demand for organ, eye and tissue donation still vastly exceeds the number of donors.

• More than 100,000 men, women and children currently need life-saving organ transplants.


• Every 10 minutes another name is added to the national organ transplant waiting list.


• An average of 18 people die each day from the lack of available organs for transplant.


• In 2009, there were 8,021 deceased organ donors and 6,610 living organ donors resulting in 28,465 organ transplants.


• Last year, more than 42,000 grafts were made available for transplant by eye banks within the United States.


• According to research, 98% of all adults have heard about organ donation and 86% have heard of tissue donation.


• 90% of Americans say they support donation, but only 30% know the essential steps to take to be a donor.

Thanks to the Westin Annapolis Hotel for inviting us to their Annual Employee Wellness Fair.  We spread the word about our mission.   Several employees participated in our Phoneraiser Program and donated their old cell phones.  Thank you Westin Annapolis  not only for helping to raise funds for Windows of Strength, Limited, but also in the efforts to help protect the enviroment by recyling these items.   

Also thanks to Kim for sharing her wish and passion with us of  her love of artwork and with her hope someday to be making money sharing this wonderful talent.  We wish you the best!

Windows of Strength, Limited, is excited to announce the kick-off of our first fundraiser.  We are partnering with Phoneraiser to help raise money through the donation of old cell phones, pda's and used inkjet cartridges.   The items will be not only help raise funds for organ transplant recipients and their caregivers, but also at the same time protect the enviroment.  By donating these items, you will be giving old technology new life and keeping it from polluting our landfills.  We know economic times are tough and we are not asking for cash just your old and used items.  Current drop boxes are located at the Northeast Community Center, Chesapeake Beach MD; Deale Food Rite, Deale MD;  Safeway Dunkirk Employee Lounge, Dunkirk, MD; Westin Annapolis Hotel Employee Lounge, Annapolis MD with more locations coming soon.  If you are not in the area of these locations, other arrangements can be made to ship the items accordingly.
